Obwohl mir Rückmeldungen von amerikanischen Fans immer willkommen sind, möchte ich  folgende Anmerkung loswerden:
Spitting-lizard.de befasst sich zum größten Teil mit dem musikalischen Werk von Mitch Ryder in Europa ab 1979. Darum werde ich die Discografie der Wheels nicht ausführlich im Text beschreiben. Material diesbezüglich gibt es genug und die Freunde aus Amerika können dies natürlich viel besser als ich. Erst ab "The Detroit-Memphis Experiment" werden die Besprechungen tiefergehender und ausführlicher.

Die Songs dieses Samplers wurden unter der Regie von Bob Crewe akustisch im Studio nachbereitet und der Sound der Detroit Wheels mitttels Bläaser-Overdubs „weichgespült“. Bei vielen Takes wurden auch die Gitarrenparts mehr in den Hintergrund gesetzt. Das bedeutete: Der typische Bandsound wurde quasi auf „Las Vegas-Stile“ getrimmt, die Wheels waren für das Management Geschichte.

Dieses 2 CD-Set von 1997 sticht aus dem Wust von Best-Of-Compilations positiv heraus. 50 Songs, die die gesamte Karierre von Mitch Ryder bis zum Jahre 1968 abdecken (Wo ist "Takin´ All I Can Get"?). Die Qualtität ist sehr gut. Ich empfehle die DCD vor allem auch den europäischen Fans, die sich auch einmal mit dieser Epoche befassen möchten.
